Global Peace in the year 2023 consolidated some of its youth programmes and undertook a global scale-up to reach many young people by 2030 with requisite skills for peace, digital safety, climate action, and decent work.
The expansion comes as 60% of the population across Global Peace’s operating regions are under 30. At the same time, Artificial Intelligence and climate change are reshaping how conflict starts and how peace is built.
Conflict is now global, digital, and generational. So the response to Global Peace’s actions for programmes development must be one that could stand the test of time. Since 2019 we have tested, learned, and consolidated what works. Now we are scaling it with youth leading, with technology enabling, and with partners across continents to realise the vision of global peace.
Global Reach and Impact to Date
Since 2019, Global Peace has engaged over 100,000 participants and 2,000 speakers from 150+ countries. The organization works through a network of youth hubs, universities, and civil society partners across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
The scale-up is guided by one global framework with 4 pillars:
- Peace and Social Cohesion: Building cooperation, tolerance, and shared values
- Inclusive Economies: Creating decent work and entrepreneurship opportunities
- Climate and Environment: Protecting and sustaining our environment
- Knowledge for Progress: Sharing knowledge for human development
Flagship Programmes Global Peace convenes major global platforms including the Global Peace Youth Forum, Annual SDGs Summit, Conference on Nuclear Disarmament, and the Children’s Summit. It also runs thematic forums on health, habitat, biodiversity, water, and Women, Peace and Security.
The next phase will focus on two priorities:
1. Global Youth Leadership: Scaling the Peace Ambassador model with global certification, regional summits, and fellowships in media, policy, and civil society.
2. Green Jobs for Peace: Training youth in solar, climate-smart agriculture, circular economy, and ecosystem restoration to link climate action directly to employment.
Our environment is not something ‘out there.’ It is the air we breathe and the climate that keeps us safe. When we damage the environment, we damage ourselves. Linking climate action to peace and jobs is the most crucial step we can take.
Addressing Global Challenges
Global Peace aims to connect youth globally to decent work through partnerships with the private sector, UN agencies, and governments. The goal is to equip young people to address rapid urbanization, climate change, migration, and other threats to stability.
Youth face the same problems globally: misinformation, unemployment, climate stress. Scaling globally means we can learn from each other and act together. All programmes are tracked on a real-time global impact dashboard to measure results and adapt quickly.
Global Peace is filling a critical gap by combining youth agency, technology, and prevention. That is exactly what the Pact for the Future and SDG 16 call for.. For People. For Peace. For the Future.
